Miniature Lamps
Miniature or Night Lamps
are a petite form of the kerosene oil lamps manufactured during
the Victorian Era. These
fully functional lamps, sometimes referred to as "courting
lamps", were used for night or low lighting, . Earlier lamps
tend to be more utilitarian, with later Victorian examples more
elaborately decorated. All forms of Victorian art glass
are represented; pressed; optic and /or opalescent patterned
in crystal, cranberry, pink, ruby, blue, green, yellow; cased,
gloss and satin; Mother-of-Pearl, Cut-Velvet, Amberina,
Burmese, Vaseline, and Nailsea. Miniature skater's lanterns and
Fairy lamps will be included on this page. Reference #'s listed
on the miniature lamps are from Smith's "Miniature
Lamps" 1 & 2. If you have a question or need assistance
